Elm Cross Back Dining Chair with Rush Seat

Natural materials and a familiar cross back profile give this dining chair from Valmere its relaxed character. Elm wood introduces warmth, while the rush seat adds a different texture beneath it. Black metal detailing brings a subtle industrial note to the design. Together, these elements create a dining chair that can sit comfortably within the look of a country kitchen, a rustic dining room or a home with mixed materials.

The crossed back is the defining feature, giving the chair a recognisable outline when arranged around a table. Leave that detail visible against a plain wall, or repeat the shape across a row of chairs for a coordinated setting. A wooden dining table makes a natural companion, while a darker tabletop can draw attention to the contrasting metal. Keep table linens simple to let the elm and woven seat remain in focus.

This is a useful starting point for a dining scheme that feels welcoming rather than overly formal. Add stoneware, clear glasses and a simple vase to build on the chair’s combination of wood, rush and metal. Its mix of textures also gives you room to introduce other furniture without matching every finish exactly. Use the chair to connect existing pieces through warm wood tones and small touches of black throughout the room.
